Help Needed for Kampung Taburan villagers at Kota Belud Sabah

Kampung Taburan needed your help! This purpose of this article is to express problems that had been troubling the villagers since independence of Malaysia.

Kampung Taburan still have a lot of villagers living below the poverty line and mainly because the area is very far from Kota Belud town and the roads are usually not accessible to all vehicles during raining season.

Now, during raining season, some villagers are unable to go to town or nearest clinic due to bad weather or landslide. The road can be very bad and only accessible by 4WD’s vehicles to the village.
A bridge had partly collapsed due to heavy rain. Now, everyday, villagers had to risk their lives by walking on this collapsed bridge.

Mostly of them needed to go to the nearest town / clinic to seek medical attention especially pregnant mothers and ailing elders. It’s heartbroken to see a pregnant mother needed to walk for more than 2 km to nearest to clinic at Kampung Dudar for her monthly medical visit.

Last year, Adun N6 Tempasuk had promised JKKK Kampung Taburan that this year the government will start the road project to Kampung Taburan from Kg Dudar, but we did not see any commencement of the said project.

However, the villagers are appreciated that government are now construction road from Institute Pertanian Sabah Kota Belud to Kampung Dudar but it is still not enough for villagers of Kampung Taburan.

I had noticed that some volunteers/NGOs from UK had came here to help villagers especially who live in the remote and hard to reach area to help them on gravity feed projects by installing the water pipeline to the villages so that they can get fresh water into the village. These good Samaritans should be good example to all Malaysian, government especially.

Due to transportation problem, the children are observed lacking of proper nutrition such as protein.

Here are some suggestions to help Kg.Taburan:-

i) Government will need to extend road construction from Kampung Dudar to Kampung Taburan.

ii) To solve landslide problem, we need urgently government to build concrete bund wall for the slope area.

iii) No medical facilities - there is a need for government to build a Klinik Desa for the villagers.

iv) NGOs or government can provide boats with engines for the villagers as an alternative transportation to the nearest Kampung for medical attention and transportation for fishing to provide daily food for the family.
